Mussel Outpost references the phenomenon of Rafting – a natural process where living organisms disperse by attaching themselves to floating material. The mussels in this piece are formed in copper and fixed to a sterling silver post, so that over time and wear, the oxidised patina will reveal pink “shell” edges against the blackened silver bar. Mussel Outpost is a limited-edition piece. Slight variations in composition will occur. The brooch attaches with a pin and clutch-back mechanism.
